| BURN. THE BOY WHOSE RARE MIRROR HANDS SAVED HIS LIFE. |
| THIS is the little boy whose rare MIRROR hands have saved his life.
Ethan Burn has a rare condition which causes his hand movements to exactly mirror each other.
When he picks objects up in one hand, the other hand copies the same movement. Amazingly Ethan can write simultaneously holding pens in both his right and left hand. |

| GOTT. OP LEFT ME WITH A BELLY LIKE JABBA THE HUT |
| I didn’t want to have the operation, but I had no choice.
‘You need a hysteretomy,’ advised the doctor, as I sat in his surgery. I was at the end of my tether. I’d had such heavy bleeding and pain each month for more than seven years, and I really couldn’t take any more.
I’d tried everything. I’d even had thermal ablation surgery where doctors used lasers to try and stop the bleeding, but that didn’t work. I was still in as much pain as ever. |

| TELFORD. CANCER MUM RISKS LIFE TO HAVE HER BABY. |
| WHEN doctors suspected pregnant Sophie Telford had a cancerous tumour growing in her neck, she made the bravest decision a mother could make.
She told doctors she wanted to wait to have an operation to remove the tumour - so her unborn baby could survive.
It was a lifethreatening risk, as it meant that the tumour carried on growing for three months without any treatment.
But it was a decision that paid off - after her daughter Zarah arrived into the world healthy and safe. |

| HEN LAYS MASSIVE EGG - THREE TIMES BIGGER THAN NORMAL. |
| It was such a mammoth effort that it took all morning to lay.
Gertrude the hen usually lays her egg on the dot of 8am - ready in time for morning breakfast.
Owner Lucy Laing was so perplexed when her morning egg didn’t arrive in time - but the egg-normous creation a few hours later was worth the wait.
Gertrude had managed to lay an egg that was three times the size of a regular egg - and one of the biggest ever recorded. |

| DIGHTON. THE PHOTO THAT SAVED MY BABYS LIFE |
| Smile, gasp, coo - there are lots of things you expect grandma to do when she sees a photo of her grandchildren. But when my mother in law Paula spotted a snap of my 6 month old son Jack, she burst into tears. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Look at Jack's eye" she sobbed "It's got a white mark in it and I read something about that in the paper. Sometimes it's cancer." My stomach lurched. It was a lovely shot that'd been taken a few months earlier - an old fashioned style shot of all of my kids - Jack, Lily 5, and Mark, 6. They all looked so cute in olde worlde style fancy dress clothes. I'd had it blown up on canvass and hung in pride of place. I hadn't been able to stop smiling at their emest faces - but now al I could see was the white spot in Jack's eye... |

| WINTERBOTTOM. MY PROMISE TO KIRSTY - TO KEEP OUR SON REECE ALIVE |
| I couldn’t believe the doctors words. They were spinning round and round in my head.
‘We’re very sorry, but your son Reece has a brain tumour.’ I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
And one thing rang in my head. I’d made a promise to my wife Kirsty that I would always look after the children. We had lost Kirsty to skin cancer only five months before and before she had died, she made me promise that I would always look after our boys. |

| TOOKE. MIRACLE BABY WHO CHEATED DEATH BY 30 MINS - WHILST IN HER MUM'S WOMB |
| THIS is the baby who cheated death by THIRTY MINUTES - whilst in her mother’s womb.
Doctors spotted that tiny Imogen Tooke was in trouble only when they carried out a routine scan.
They saw that the tot had her umbilical wrapped TWICE around her neck and her heartbeat was plummeting.
Doctors then faced a race against time to deliver Imogen by an emergency operation before it was too late.
Luckily they managed to get the baby out with just minutes to spare - and now Imogen has just celebrated her first birthday against all the odds.
Her relieved mother Melissa, 29, said: ‘It is hard to believe that we were just 30 minutes away from losing Imogen. |

| HEALEY. LITTLE GIRL WHO BEAT SEVEN DIFFERENT HEART DEFECTS TO SURVIVE. |
| THIS is the little girl who has beaten SEVEN different lifethreatening heart defects to survive.
Doctors suggested that mum Kerry Healey had a termination when they discovered all the defects when she was pregnant with daughter Millie.
But the brave mum refused as she wanted to give her tiny daughter a chance at life.
Doctors didn’t know if Millie would even survive the birth - and they had to resuscitate her when she arrived into the world.
They then told her devastated parents that it would be kinder to let her die - but again they refused to give up on her. |
