| GARDHAM. RECOVERED FROM ANOREXIA |
| I was so excited to be performing on stage at last. It was at a local pub and it was my third appearance.
I loved to sing - I’d sung all my life. I used to dance around my bedroom with a hairbrush singing my heart out into it when I was little.
It was thrilling to be on stage, belting out hits from All Saints, the Corrs and Leanne Rhimes.
But even then I could see the strange looks I was getting. For I weighed around six stone. And people didn’t want to have to watch me and see how thin I was - with my bones protruding out of my hips and chest. |

| PLINSTON. PLEASE DON'T STARE AT MY BABY |
| I was shopping with my baby son Ben in our local supermarket when I looked up and woman was stood infront of my shopping trolley just staring at Ben.
She shook her head in disgust and just walked off. Tears welled up in my eyes. I couldn’t stay here any longer - I had to leave.
It wasn’t Ben’s fault that he didn’t look like other children his age. He was born with lots of problems, including Kabuki Syndrome, which means his face is shaped differently to other children.
His face is flat, with a flat chin and nose. But what people notice most about him is his eyes. Both of his eyes are cloudy, especially the right one, which gives him a strange look. He can see perfectly well out of them, but they look so different from normal eyes, and people treat him as if he is some sort of freak. |

| JACKSON. 20,000 PEOPLE GAVE ME MY BABY |
| My husband Stephen and I were desperate for a baby, but it just wasn’t happening.
I had come off the pill 12 months after we got married in June 1999, and we got on with trying to start a family.
But then a year later, nothing had happened, so I went to our local hospital and the doctors gave me some tests.
It showed that I wasn’t releasing eggs properly every month. So the doctors gave me some fertility drugs and I had eight cycles, but that didn’t work either. |
